Our AI Policy.
Helping teams use AI safely, securely and confidently.
Last updated: 12th August 2026
Why we publish this
We advise founders on how to build AI responsibly. That means holding ourselves to the same standard.
This policy explains how we use AI across our work, how we protect the information you share with us, and how we identify AI-generated content on our website.
Our approach is simple: AI should be built in responsibly. We use AI deliberately, in defined contexts and with human oversight. It supports our judgement — it doesn’t replace it.
This is written for people, not compliance officers. If anything is unclear, ask us.
Our principles
- A named human is accountable for everything we deliver.
- We minimise what we share.
- We tell you when something was made with AI.
- We do not use AI to make decisions about people.
- We treat AI output as a draft.
How we use AI in our work
We use two AI assistants as part of our day-to-day practice:
- Claude (Anthropic) — research synthesis, drafting, analysis, code assistance
- Microsoft Copilot — drafting and productivity support within our Microsoft environment
We use these tools for things like structuring first drafts, summarising research, exploring alternative approaches to a problem, writing and reviewing code, and pressure-testing our own thinking.
We do not use AI for:
- Producing client deliverables that go out without human review, revision and sign-off
- Making or materially influencing decisions about individuals — hiring, assessment, eligibility, or anything with a comparable effect on a person
- Generating findings, data, statistics or citations that we then present as our own research. Everything we cite, we have checked at source
- Autonomous action on a client’s systems, accounts or data
- Fabricating case study outcomes, testimonials, client quotes or results
Every piece of work we deliver has a named member of our team held accountable. AI assistance does not dilute that. If we get something wrong, it is our error, not the tool’s.
Confidentiality and your data
Client information is the thing we are most careful with, and AI tools are the place where carelessness is easiest.
Encryption. Data you share with us is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest across the systems we use. We want to be precise about what this does and does not mean: content processed by an AI assistant is decrypted on that provider’s infrastructure in order to be processed. It is not end-to-end encrypted in the strict sense, and we will not describe it that way. What we can commit to is that the providers we use operate under business or enterprise terms, hold recognised security certifications, and are contractually bound not to use our inputs or outputs to train their models.
Data minimisation. We work with the least sensitive version of information that will get the job done. In practice this means we redact, anonymise or summarise before an AI tool sees anything client-specific. Personal data, commercially sensitive financials, unpublished IP and anything covered by a third-party NDA are excluded by default.
Your say. If you would prefer we use no AI assistance at all on your engagement, tell us and we will honour it — it costs you nothing and does not change our fee. If your organisation has its own AI usage policy, we will work within it. Where an engagement involves personal data, we will agree the terms in writing before any processing begins.
Retention. We do not retain client material in AI tools beyond the life of the task. Our record of the work lives in our own systems, under our own access controls, not in a chat history.
AI-generated material on this website
Images. Some visuals on this site are AI-generated. Every one of them carries a visible caption:
AI-generated visual · Intellr
If an image does not carry that caption, it is a photograph, an illustration, or a design asset made by a person. We do not use AI to generate images of real, identifiable people, and we do not use AI-generated imagery to depict clients, team members, events or results that did not happen.
Written content. Articles, frameworks, case studies and commentary on this site are written by our team. AI may assist with structuring, editing or research, in the same way a spellchecker or a search engine does — but the argument, the analysis and the point of view are ours, and a named author has reviewed and stands behind every published piece. We do not publish text that no human has read.
Data and claims. Any figure, statistic or external claim on this site has been verified against its original source by a person. Where we cite research, we link to it.
Website visitors
No automated decisions about you. We do not profile visitors, score leads algorithmically, or use AI to make any decision that affects you.
Forms and enquiries. When you submit a contact or booking form, that information goes to our team and is read by a person. We do not feed enquiry content into AI tools.
Analytics. We use standard, privacy-respecting website analytics to understand which pages are useful. This is aggregate and not used to build individual profiles.
Full detail on visitor data sits in our Privacy Policy, which this policy sits alongside rather than replaces.
How we govern this
We assess our own AI use against a governance framework we use with clients, covering governance ownership, use case boundaries, accountability, risk assessment and documentation.
In practice that means: we keep a register of the AI tools in use and what each is approved for; new tools are assessed before adoption, not after; the team is trained on what may and may not be shared; and this policy is reviewed at least annually, or sooner if our tooling or the regulatory picture changes materially.
On limitations, plainly. AI systems produce confident, fluent output that is sometimes wrong. They reflect biases in their training data. They can invent sources. We build our process around these facts rather than hoping they will not apply to us, which is precisely why human review is non-negotiable rather than a nice-to-have.
Compliance
We operate in line with applicable UK and EU data protection and AI legislation, and we review this policy against changes in that landscape.
Questions, or something we’ve got wrong
If you have a question about our AI use, want to request an AI-free engagement, or think something on this site is mislabelled, tell us and we will look into it and respond.
